The highest building in Brandenburg is the Oder Tower in Frankfurt (Oder) with 88,95m. The 24-storey building was built in the years from 1968 to 1976 as an office building. It was designed by the architects Hans Tulke and Paul Teichmann. A collective and youth brigade participated in the construction.

The steel and concrete building was in the beginning an accommodation for the employees of the semiconductor manufacture in Frankfurt and contained in addition a youth hotel. Part of the 'data processing centre Frankfurt (Oder)' was also housed there. The ground floor had shops and restaurants like the "Ulrich-von-Hutten" bookshop, which still exists today, a self-serving restaurant with the name 'Schnell-Gastronom' and a delicacy-shop on an 400m² large shop floor. The 'Panorama-Cafe' moved onto the 23rd floor and was then very popular.

In the years from 1992 to 1994 the Oder Tower was completely rebuilt and renovated after plans by the architect Monika Krebs. In the summer of 1996 the whole complex of the Oder tower was inaugurated with an area of 41.000m². From then on the building has a modern shopping passage with a roof made in parts of glass and large neon signs on the roof of the house, which can be seen from many corners of the city. It became the landmark of Frankfurt (Oder).

Since the year 2000, the restaurant 'turm24' has been located on the 24th floor and the whole house offers more than 1300 jobs, among them around 40 shops, offices, justice authorities, medical practises and much more.
